State of World Population report will be launched at HiOA

You are invited to the launching of the UNFPA report «Worlds apart – Reproductive health and rights in the age of inequality». Gaps in wealth have grown wide within most countries and the world is ever further away from the vision of equality embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I år handler FNs befolkningsfond (UNFPA) sin «State of the World Population Report» om en av de mest undertrykkende problemene i vår tid – ulikhet.
Ulik tilgang til seksuell og reproduktive helsetjenester er tett knyttet til økonomiske ulikheter. Ved å minske forskjellene innen tilgang til reproduktiv helse bidrar man til bedre velstand for alle. Reduserte forskjeller fører til fremskritt i menneskelig utvikling, bedre helse og fattigdomsreduksjon. Tilgang til reproduktive helsetjenester for alle er også et bidrag til at alle jenter og kvinner får utdanning og inntekt. Dette reduserer fattigdom og forskjeller, nødvendig for en bærekraftig utvikling.

This year’s The State of World Population report published by UNFPA tackles one of the most suppressing issues of our times – inequality.
Economic inequality correlates with inequalities in sexual and reproductive health. The unmet demand for family planning in developing countries is generally greatest among women at the bottom of the wealth scale. What kind of inequality exist in reproductive health? What causes the inequalities and how to tackle them?
