DFPA was established in 1956, and works to create greater awareness on issues concerning sexuality, pregnancy, contraceptive methods and sexually transmitted diseases. DFPA is a private, non-governmental organisation (NGO) without religious or political affiliations, and is a member of IPPF – International Planned Parenthood Federation.
RFSU (the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education) was founded in 1933. Today it is the leading organisation in Sweden in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). RFSU has no party political or religious affiliation. RFSU owns RFSU Inc. The surplus of the company goes to the RFSU’s non-profit operation such as sexuality education, research and various programmes.
Väestöliitto – the Family Federation of Finland – works in the fields of social affairs and health. Väestöliitto was founded in 1941 and composed of 31 member organisations. Väestöliitto acts in the family, population and sexual health field, and produces and disseminates information about families, young people, immigrants and the size and structure of the population.
The mission of UNFPA is a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA partners with governments, other agencies and civil society to advance UNFPA’s mission. Two frameworks guide its efforts: the Programme of Action adopted at the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). UNFPA’s goals are: achieving universal access to sexual and reproductive health (including family planning); promoting reproductive rights; reducing maternal mortality and accelerating progress on the ICPD agenda and MDG 5.
IPPF is the world’s largest organisation for sexual and reproductive health and rights. The organisation was established in 1950, and today has 152 member associations working in 172 countries. IPPF strives for a world in which all women, men and young people have access to the sexual and reproductive health information and services they need; a world in which sexuality is recognised both as a natural and precious aspect of life and as a fundamental right; a world in which choices are fully respected and where stigma and discrimination have no place. Sex og Politikk is the Norwegian member association of IPPF.
FOKUS is a knowledge and resource center for international women’s issues with an emphasis on the spreading of information and women-centered development cooperation.
The organisation consists of 74 women’s organisations ans women’s commitees in political parties, trade unions, and solidarity and aid organisations. Sex og Politikk is on of FOKUS’s member organisations.
EuroNGOs – the European NGOs for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Population and Development – is a regional network of European based NGOs that promote comprehensive and progressive sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) in development cooperation and global policies.
EuroNGOs was established in 1996, and is a broad, diverse and inclusive network with 37 members ranging from large organizations with an international presence to smaller, specialist organizations working in certain regions or with specific groups of people. Sex og Politikk is a member.
