Vil du lære med om seksuell og reproduktiv helse i Palestina? Amina Stavridis fra Sex og Politikks søsterorganisasjon The Palestinian Family Planning And Protection Association (PFPPA) besøker Norge for å snakke om seksuell og reproduktiv helse som en del av FNs nye bærekraftige utviklingsmål.

I forbindelse med Aminas besøk, inviterer Sex og Politikk og Fellesutvalget til åpent møte for å høre mer om The Palestinian Family Planning And Protection Associations arbeid. Vi får også høre om hvordan arbeidet med seksuell og reproduktiv helse lar seg kombinere med den pågående kampen mot Israels okkupasjon – en kamp som ikke nødvendigvis sees i sammenheng med arbeidet for seksuelle rettigheter og kvinners posisjon i samfunnet.
I tillegg kommer Bjørn Iversen fra Folkehelseinstituttet for å snakke om deres arbeid med å etablere et nasjonalt palestinsk folkehelseinstitutt med blant annet et svangerskaps- og fødselsregister.

Informasjon om The Palestinian Family Planning And Protection Association (PFPPA) og deres arbeid:

The PFPPA is an independent non-profit association established in Jerusalem since 1964 enjoying a full membership of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) that envisions a country in which all women, men and young people have equal access to information and quality services related to their sexual and reproductive life with all necessary legislation to support the nature and precious aspects of all reproductive rights, throughout the life cycle. It also envisions a community where gender mainstreamed; reproductive choices are respected, and free of any kind of discrimination.

Its executive office is based in Jerusalem and it currently has five branches and two youth centers spread throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Mainly, PFPPA provides wide scope of Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) services including: training for young leaders and staff from other governmental and non- governmental organizations, unique medical women health services, counseling, awareness raising, advocating women rights, conducting applied research and organizing lobbying and advocacy campaigns to influence national policies.

PFPPA also focuses on promoting awareness among the Palestinian community on HIV/AIDS and related prevention methods and to decrease stigmatization and discrimination towards people living with HIV/AIDS. In addition, PFPPA efforts are focused on achieving recognition of women’s right to have access to information and education on the dangers of unsafe abortion and prevention methods to reduce its incidence.
